Visiting the Abbey of St Edmund
The Abbey Precinct is in the heart of the historic town of Bury St Edmunds and the majority of it is open to the public and free to visit.
The beautiful Abbey Gardens and picturesque ruins are open daily:
- April to end August, Monday to Saturday 7.30am to 8pm, Sundays and bank holidays 9am to 8pm.
- September and March, Monday to Saturday 7.30am to 6pm, Sundays and bank holidays 9am to 6pm.
- October to end February, Monday to Saturday 7.30am to 5pm, Sundays and bank holidays 9am to 5pm.

The Abbey address is: Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 1LS.
There is a Pay & Display car park opposite the Abbey Gate, but the long stay car park is Ram Meadow, just a short walk away at IP33 1XP.
The station is a 10 minute walk away, or there is a taxi rank outside the station.
The bus station is just a few minutes’ walk from local shops, cafes and restaurants.
